I graduated from Arizona State University and the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts with a bachelor’s in fine art and an emphasis in painting.
What is a painter anyway? Most of the time people asked if I painted houses.

Paints pictures…well, people are in pictures. Why not paint the faces to be camera-ready.
Like most, after college I was a little burnt out. Countless hours in the studio and too many all-nighters than I would like to admit that all led to an indefinite break from painting on canvas. During that time my interest shifted to makeup. Which turned into countless hours of YouTube tutorials and slowly building my personal stash of makeup.
Having studied painting I didn’t just learn techniques and history of the infamous. I became a colourist. Learning to mix colors, how they interact with one another, complementing or clashing based on tone, temperature, or position on the good ole color wheel.
Did you know you can mix over 200 different versions of green? Worst assignment, ever. Green became my least favorite color for a good period of time. But it was a good lesson, color has no bounds. That skill has seamlessly translated into makeup, matching foundation to skin tone.
My skill, confidence, and addiction to makeup have grown over these last few years. I started doing friends’ makeup just for fun, then for their weddings, and events and weddings of others. Now I’m here, making a career out of what started as a talent in painting and morphed into a passion for makeup and painting faces.
